Five Entertainment and Environmental Experts to Choose the Greenest Film of the Year

Meet the Jury of Cinema In Verde 2024

The Cinema In Verde 2024 Festival is approaching: on September 19, the four-day showcase of films from around the world will begin. On the 22nd, we will discover the winner — the film that best captures the mix of emotions, tension, and hope we feel when thinking about our relationship with the environment and our own future. It’s a demanding task, but the team is up to the challenge. The jury is composed of experts from various fields, each bringing unique skills and perspectives to evaluate the competing films. Their mission is to recognize and award the works that best embody this year’s theme: “Stories that Inspire, Actions that Save.”

This year’s jury features a combination of prominent names from cinema, communication, and environmental culture, each with extensive experience and a highly qualified perspective.

Paolo Virzì: President of the Cinema In Verde jury, internationally renowned director and screenwriter, Virzì is known for his ability to tell profound and engaging stories that touch on essential aspects of life and society. His presence on the jury ensures careful evaluation of storytelling and the emotional impact of the films, making sure the narratives resonate with audiences and reflect the complexity of environmental issues.

Laura Delli Colli: Journalist and author, Delli Colli is a key figure in the Italian film landscape. As President of the Italian Union of Film Journalists, she has had a long career in film criticism and the promotion of cinema. Her expertise is essential for assessing the artistic quality of the films, ensuring that the most significant and well-crafted works receive the attention they deserve.

Lino Guanciale: A versatile and acclaimed actor, Guanciale brings his on-the-ground experience and sensitivity to acting and film production to the jury. His ability to evaluate acting performances and the portrayal of environmental themes will be crucial in recognizing films that offer authenticity and powerful storytelling.

Rossella Muroni: Environmentalist and President of Nuove Ri-Generazioni, Muroni is an important voice in the field of sustainability and environmental protection. Her participation in the jury ensures a critical and informed evaluation of how the films address ecological issues, and how effectively they propose meaningful solutions and reflections for the future.

Sofia Pasotto: Environmental activist and content creator with a strong commitment to communicating ecological issues, Pasotto brings an informed perspective on environmental topics. Her experience ensures an evaluation of how films tackle and represent environmental challenges and solutions, making sure that the selected works also engage younger audiences.

A Growing Festival

The jury’s task is to select the best film of the festival— a work that not only meets high artistic standards but also addresses environmental issues with seriousness and innovation. The selection process will take place on the final day of the Festival, September 22, at the Botanical Garden of Rome, where the jury members will gather to discuss and decide on the winning film.
