To spread environmental awareness, reach the widest possible audience, and share a creative work with an ever-growing public, Cinema In Verde couldn’t remain confined within the ‘green walls’ of the Botanical Garden.
Thus, the initiative Cinema In Verde Goes to the City was born. As part of this program, during the first half of 2024, we plan to host a series of free screenings aimed at school students. The choice of venues reflects our goal of reaching neighborhoods that are physically distant from the Botanical Garden, to involve the widest audience possible—especially younger generations—in a topic that directly concerns their future.
Two upcoming screenings are scheduled:
- The first screening will take place on July 7th, with “L’Horizon” by Emilie Carpentier—the winning film of last year’s edition—screened at Porticiak, the urban regeneration festival.
- The second screening will be on July 14th, again with “L’Horizon”, shown in the summer arena of Sapienza University.
Film Synopsis:
The film we are presenting, L’Horizon by Emilie Carpentier, is a coming-of-age story set in the northern outskirts of Paris, where urban development is consuming the surrounding fields. The protagonist is 18-year-old Adja, burning with the desire to live intensely but with only a blurred vision of her future. Adja lives in a world where success defines the future: her brother is a promising football player, and her best friend aspires to become an influencer. Her encounter with a peer named Arthur will lead her to political and environmental awareness, helping her find her path. Adja will eventually join the struggle of her generation.
